VICE CHANCELLOR
RESEARCH

RE: Delegation of Authority - To Solicit and Execute Certain Changes with Respect to the National Children's Study Award

Standing Order of The Regents 100.4 (dd) authorizes the President to execute documents to solicit and accept pledges, gifts, and grants.

On March 10, 1995, the President delegated authority to Chancellors to solicit and accept extramural grants and contracts for research if direct costs in one project year did not exceed $5,000,000 (DA 2036, superseded by DA 2569, April 19, 2012). Because the named project exceeded this limit, the President approved the initial solicitation and executed a contract on behalf of the Irvine campus with the National Institutes of Health in the amount of $25,931,501 for a sixty-month period commencing September 28, 2007.

In DA 2197, January 29, 2008, the President authorized the Chancellor of the Irvine campus to solicit and execute any amendments, modifications, or renewals subsequent to the initial award provided the general intent and purpose of the program remain unchanged from those originally approved.

I am redelegating this authority to the Vice Chancellor–Research.

This authority may not be redelegated further.
