A. General
The Office of Academic Personnel is a functional office within Academic Affairs. Academic Personnel administers the annual academic review cycle, processes all academic appointments and personnel actions and is the office of record for those actions, develops campus policy and procedures relating to academic personnel, administers the academic Affirmative Action process, monitors academic collective bargaining contracts, and is the liaison office for academic grievances and complaints.
The purpose of the office is (a) to see that all academic personnel matters are handled in conformance with federal, state, systemwide and local policies, and, within that responsibility, (b) to perform related functions including training, policy development, interpretation and dissemination, reporting, data collections, records access, and file maintenance. It benefits the academic mission of the campus by ensuring, within the scope of its responsibilities, that academic employees are well and fairly treated, and that the standards of the quality of the University of California are applied to those employees.
B. Academic Personnel Policies and Procedures
- Policies are issued by the Office of the President and published in the Academic Personnel (Policy) Manual (APM).
- Procedures are published by the Academic Personnel Office in the UCI Academic Personnel Procedures (APP).
